Just outside Wenatchee, the landscape of Lake Entiat is high desert with heavy timber in upper elevations. The fire visible here was essentially grassland, which can return to its previous state within a year. Keith Satterfield works out of the local Forest Ranger’s district and fought on this fire. The ax/shovel used to cut and dig firelines is known as a “Pulaski”.
